Collins Ridge - West Richland
An Oasis Neighborhood
Located in town but seemingly just outside civilization, this upscale neighborhood offers views of the countryside and sophistication of in-town living (all utilities are underground and sidewalks are in). There’s only 58 lots and they’re selling fast. One of the draws is that the Richland School District with its emphasis on Math and Science – thanks to so many PhD parents- does an excellent preparatory job for college.
It’s almost as if departing Bombing Range Road via Collins Road over the hill to Collins Ridge magically transports you to a little village in the country. Because that’s the feeling upon entering this lovely area. Some homes were built a few years ago that have been enhanced with landscaping and hardscape features that reflect homeowner pride of ownership. Then the Oasis Neighborhood portion shows how the area has blossomed with such views of the valley and mountains beyond! There’s a refreshing variation of homes offered by Oasis Custom Homes with 3-5 car garages and plenty of space for growing households; Oasis Extended Family homes for those desirous of an in-law suite for older family members or maybe boomerang kids; GardenCourt Homes exhibit a traditional-craftsman look for those desiring single story (no steps) living with many easy-living features built-in; and the newly-introduced ULTRA Modern Homes for people looking for a new way to live.
For kids there’s a park- Flat top Park- with room to run and romp. And there’s a hughmongus (is that a word?) hill to climb, as part of the tire-‘em-out routine. It’s easy to become part of this fun-loving community, as West Richland hosts a variety of family events over the course of the year.
And it doesn’t hurt that the Richland Schools in general and Hanford High School in particular have a pretty strong Math and Science orientation that seems to prepare kids for higher education and promising futures. It has been pointed out that the source of this emphasis has been the preponderance of parents with PhD’s and advanced education themselves.
But in the end, Collins Ridge is just a nice place to live. With people who seem to really get along. And it doesn’t hurt that the real estate agents who work there at the Oasis Neighborhood “Welcome Home” encourage everyone to get to know one another. Visitors are pleasantly surprised when neighbors smile and wave.
